Putting hard work in agriculture is clear, Agricultural development is a great way of reducing hunger and poverty. Uganda unlike most African countries has suitable soils for both subsistence and commercial food production, whatsoever you put in the soils germinate.
According to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) agriculture sector employs about 70 % of the working population. Making agriculture the chief cornerstone of Uganda’s economy. Considering the fact that agriculture is the main source of income for rural residents and that 96% of the population below the poverty line lives in rural areas.
Agriculture is the backbone of our community, and sustainable agricultural practices are vital for ensuring food security and environmental stewardship. We promote sustainable agriculture by providing training, resources, and support to farmers and local agricultural cooperatives. Through workshops on organic farming, regenerative practices, and efficient resource management, we empower farmers to adopt environmentally friendly and economically viable approaches. By promoting sustainable agriculture, we contribute to the well-being of communities, protect natural resources, and foster resilient food systems.
Adopting Commercial Agriculture & Nutrition
Modernizing the agricultural sector and improving agricultural productivity, competitiveness, and income is extremely important in promoting economic growth not only for rural areas, but the entire country.
We need to do better agricultural practices, have food and nutrition safety. We are going to make measurable progress in creating productive employment, generating income, and reducing rural poverty
Linking Local Farmers To Potential Market
Twelvegates is working on using an online platform for selling local farmers produce. This is to help cut off the middle men who consider improving on the welfare of the local farmers. They at lower prices that keep farmers the cycle of poverty.
Income Diversity Strategies
Promoting income diversification strategies in rural areas for local farmers and
developing strong credit for agriculture, upholding and strengthening the food
safety net programs (to target mainly women).
